Dopie is not a sustainable design in the traditional sense. At Terra Plana we believe very strongly that there is not just one solution to sustainable design. Inspired by nature and ecological survival, we believe in a diversity of non-generic products with different sustainable concepts:
natural/organic functional goodness recycled minimum toxins locally sourced lightweight energy efficient and durable
Dopie is an ultra simple, energy efficient, long lasting, non-generic product, made predominately from recycled EVA and all materials are sourced from within 50 miles of the factory.
Ethical issues addressed:
Terra Plana aims to be the most innovative and sustainable designer shoe brand in the world. To do this we use special chrome free leathers, vegetable tanned leathers, recycled materials such as quilts, coffee bags, jackets, shirts ; jeans, leather car seat scraps , recycled rubber soles, 100% recycled foam footbeds and recycled card for shoe boxes • To cut down on the use of glue Terra Plana uses hand stitched detailing and where glues are necessary we are working with our factories to use water based adhesives • Our latex comes direct from the sap of lactae hevea trees, which is a natural latex
